Monogay, polygamy, poliamor.

I watched Netflix documentary where it says that for a long time we live in polygamy and in fact there are tribes in which the children have several fathers (who had sex doing pregnancy with the Mother).

For me who lives in a house where my father goes out with several women but did not allow my mother to have this freedom. Eventually he got some kind of STD and then had a lover who stalked after my mother and brothers and even came close to them may be trying to do something bad.

Living this drama I have always found it better monogamy if both agree to avoid drama.
Also, I personally could not feel sexual attraction with boys until I was 17 y.o and never understood why girls lived in love or worried about being with boys ( i am heterosexual ).
Later, I understood that for me it is necessary to feel attraction for the person's intelligence and emotional.

Today watching the video I was thinking that the best would be both be honest in deciding which lifestyle they favor them.

There are places where the wife has several husbands or where husbands have several wives or simply monogamy etc.

i come from a traditionaly old skool family ... but the males in my '"clan" are known to be womanizers. i believe my father also has another family that i've never seen ... yet.

ImHO monogamy and polygamy have their places in the rigid structure of religion only.

the more open option is polyamory/open relationships. these are all about understanding. nothing is hidden from one another.

I used to be monogamous and felt that was the "natural" way people should be. I've since matured. I am not monogamous now, and none of my partners are either. This works for all of us because we are up front and communicate and no one exerts any ownership. Not that jealousy never happens, we are human, but we talk about it and work things out. We also keep this separate from our romantic lives. For instance I had a girlfriend up until a few months ago, she was fully aware of everything and was also allowed to have other sexual partners but didn't interact with my normal group normally by her choice. My sugar baby has a boyfriend, he knows all about me and isn't threatened. In fact we have all gone on vacation together. I don't really know which label to apply to how we all are but we are all happy and it works for us.

I also have good friends who are monogamous and it works well for them. I think that a lot of people tend to prefer being less monogamous when younger but kind of settle down to one partner later. But most societies discourage anything but monogamy so it may just be a wearing down effect.

That's not really cheating, at least not in Japan.

Cheating is more like having an emotionally invested relationship with someone other than your monogamous partner.
With paid services, there's no emotion or feelings... (or that's the way it's supposed to be but some men (and women) develop unhealthy obsessions with some people that they cannot have...)

Well, that is one definition. And while I think it's a good one I've known a lot of women, Japanese or otherwise, who would not agree on it.

I've met, mostly European or American, girls who think masturbation or watching porn movies is already cheating. And I've personally dated a Japanese girl who thought hugging my European friends when meeting was cheating if the friends were girls.

And I've met several Thai girls who said that as long as their husbands or boyfriends pay for the sex outside of home they don't care. But if he finds a one that gives it for free then there is hell to pay.

Generally, from my limited experience anyway, it seems Asian girls are more OK with the husband going around as long as it's not serious. And especially Japanese wives will not want to know and act ignorance as long as they can. Though it doesn't mean they don't consider it cheating, they just choose to ignore it.

Exactly. Ignoring does not mean is not considering cheating to them.
Each individual has different definition, would be nice have a talk before start the relationship.
Personally, even there is no sex but has intention to cheat my trust, there is already the seed waiting to opportunity for the act( cheat.)
