ameyoko area looks promising - cheers grunt
As nice and unique as it is, I don't think Rockza qualifies as a "lively bar to visit that stays open late."Maybe Asakusa Rockza (stripclub)
Re ameyoko: my understanding is that there are lots of old style yakitori around Okachimachi. Great stuff, but I'm not sure it qualifies as nightlife.

Yeah, it is kinda seedy but......stay away from the toutsIt is the pits. Don't go there unless you are homeless.
I actually like the night life around those areas. Asakusa is probably more interesting in the early evening hours but tends to die off except for tourists walking around at night. Ueno, west of Chuo-dori is to be avoided. I hate going through there...
There are plenty of places to go, even if dirty, between Ueno station and Okachimachi.
Between Uneo and Asakusa, there are a few unique places but it's kinda dead after 9pm.
