Okinawa Recommendations Needed

Hi, I really need some tips about Okinawa main island. I'm going to visit for 4 nights in August. I don't have a driver's license but I want to experience as much cool stuff as I can. Where should I stay? I kind of want to be close to Naha to check out the soapland area but at the same time I'd like to explore as much of the island as possible, and also a pool or beach might be nice to have access to.
Also any recommendations for dining/shopping/places to check out are all extremely welcome.

It's a drag without a car. You could take a bus up to the resorts though. My recs: explore the shuri castle area, and day trip to a neighboring island by ferry.

Thanks, that helps me a lot. Didn't know that the Kerama Islands were an option. So I could use Naha as a base and head out there for day trips.
Do you happen to know if they have lockers or somewhere you can store some stuff while you snorkel on Zamami Island?
I'm traveling alone and I'm not sure what to do about belongings when I want to enjoy the water.
