Old but still interesting: Interview with a pink salon worker

I wonder how much the women in the cheapest pink salons make, hmm.

I wonder if her boyfriend (of the girl they interviewed) even noticed the sudden uptick in her oral skills...

Based on one of the other interviews on that site, I'm gonna guess about as much as a family restaurant waitress or less.
Its kind of beyond me why they would be willing to do it then.
Not that it seems a particular horrible job but there is the disease risk and tests and treatments are expensive.

I'm guessing they don't like standing for a long amound of time and maybe have better hours at a pink salon?

Lack of job skills/ambition, no discipline, etc.

That implies sexworkers are complete no goods.

Last time i checked you dont need any past work experience, degrees or special "skills and ambition" to be a waiter at gusto.

And it does take some skill and discipline to get someone off with just a blowjob.

My comment was based on the interviews there and from talking to numerous women in healths. Its not a put down at all, some people just have no real aptitude for the regular workforce and to be perfectly honest, theres some people whose only skill in life is making someone cum.

I just dont think it would be an easier or less skilled job than waiter. Except for not having to stand.

I wouldn't pretend to compare a Pinsalon worker with a Chinese MP worker and never a full-up escort. Just giving oral pleasure can't be as difficult as making a 1 to 2 hour encounter into something exciting.

Besides in the interview she said the hardest shift she had done was something like 15 guys in 8 hours. Not easy, but that was the hardest meaning most days are probably much slower. A Gusto waitress handles over 100 guests on a normal shift.

I guess with veterans they dont feel like making the carreer switch, but there are a lot of low paid jobs in Japan that dont require qualifications and they do have the same discipline requirements as pink salons.
Pink salon is also getting up and going to work every work day, interacting with people and having to be nice even if someone is rude, doing work that tires your body.

Exactly, as much as I love these hotties sucking my cock so hard I'm practically passing out, it seems like a risky job for low pay.

Also, as many times as I have been infected with chlamydia... I'm terrified to know how many times the veterans have been infected with it...

For some it is way more than me. As the Men's Warehouse dude always says "...I guarantee it".

Sex work in Japan provides an opportunity to make a quick buck (or many bucks) if a girl really needs to. I suspect many cash strapped girls end up in the business that way.

Too bad that's not possible in the West. In the States specifically, being in the industry at all is dangerous (not to mention illegal). And almost nowhere can you get a decent BJ for $30-40.

That was my point, lol.
The salary listed in this interview is still okayish, per hour definitely better than normal part time jobs.
But if thats for a shop that asks 6000 yen of their customers, i dont think places that ask only 3000 yen pay the girls a wage thats more attractive than anywhere else.

I agree with TheScientist, in that I don't see it as a sex worker not being able to work as a waiter but that they prefer to be in the sex business for whatever reason.

I mean, I know for a fact that I can work at a McDonalds if I really had to but I sure as heck wouldn't want to if I had other options! Work is work, but there are plenty of things people can like or dislike with any kind of job out there.

Even McDonalds requires a high school diploma...

Japan specifically
Ok, fair point then.

However it still doesn't really change the point that it's not just a matter of qualifications or skills why a person would join the sex industry, so I don't see it as them being too stupid to get a job in retail or customer service.

If they're willing to hire foreigners who barely speak Japanese in izakaya and convenience stores, i dont think it would be a problem for Japanese people to get a job there, no matter if they finished high school or not, they likely still can read better than Nepali or Vietnamese.

Also there are jobs like love hotel front desk lady, which is maybe not the ideal job to present people who ask either, but which includes no disease risks and as long as you're front instead of cleaning the rooms its a light job.

I'm not saying pink salon lady is an awful job by any means, but unless the shop provides free testing and medication, that would be a serious expense for someone with a low wage. Plus a sad health risk and very real considering most of the reports on TAG about std seem to be actually from pink salons. Plus throat diseases are generally harder to cure than genital ones.

And sex workers more than deserve the extra money considering how society takes the piss with us.
While waiters are ridiculed as well, i cant imagine people choosing sex work over waiting if its the same wage simply because it ruins our reputation and the reputation of people associated with us.
If it was taboo free and cbj, i would choose pink salon over waiting, i think.
I like intimate interaction with people better than bringing around drinks.

in many places, waitressing can be quite a high-pressure job, requiring speed + multi-tasking sometimes for the whole shift (McDonalds is also like this I think). so it's understandable that sucking cocks is preferable for some. imo, they're both 'skilled' jobs and i don't look down on anyone doing them. I wouldn't be any good at either even though i went to university.

although the girl in the interview is paid decently, it's sad about all the others taking the same risks and getting paid much lower. If testing is really that expensive, my guess is that the lowest paid ones would not test, but rather stock up on some broad-spectrum antibiotics to use as required. Now I'd fully support a Robin Hood skimming some salary off 1st world project-manager types (no offense) and giving it to these bottom-of-barrel pink salon girls, who probably do more work. :D

Yeah exactly.
Pink salon can also be quite stressful if its busy i guess, but i hope they get a commission per bj like the girl in the interview said. Plus you can sit down although kneeling.. i guess for SW, budget soapland is the most physically exhausting (if busy).

Taking antibiotics randomly is so unhealthy! And one day they wont work anymore...
To be a socialist, i'd happily pay for some lady's testing and medication, but of course i cant go to a pink salon and someone also mentioned that tipping and/or exchanging contact info at a place like Jan Jan is very difficult because the manager can see you at any times.

Lots of them are here on "foreign trainee" visas and aren't on any real labor contract.

I was shocked when I found out a lot of girls working at pink salons aren't making over 250k a month. I feel like I do less work and I make much more than that. Damn.
