Of all the public spaces, bath houses are my favourite
I even hold memberships to some of the Russian/Turkish baths and Korean Baths in various states in America.
So obviously, I am dying to check out the various onsen in Tokyo!

I saw a post back in March; with feedback about RandomTokyoGuy's fave onsen...good to know. Thanks for that...

My specific question however is - which onsen allow tattooed people to enter??
or alternately (and my second choice) - which sento?

oh swoon! Thanks for that Sudsy...
Now I just need to figure out how to translate it :brb:

Sentos will usually all let you in

Regular onsen are usually no problem

Upmarket sentos in cities known as Kenkoland sre a problem. The gig is to cover tattoos with tape so that no ink is visible. Make sure it's waterproof

The worst places are sports clubs with swimming pools

I really like the rotenburo in Niijima, one of the islands south of Tokyo. It's just 2 hours from central Tokyo by jet boat and it's free and open 24/7, located on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean with the other islands in view. Really beautiful.
