Did you just came up with that yourself? As I've never heard that in the context of Oedipus. Or in any other context for that matter.

But coming back to the original subject, which makes me also wonder how pleasurable it is to come as a pornstar with the camera crew watching over, what would be the definition of a porn star? I mean similarly to an author the meaning of the word is changing. Nowadays everyone can self publish a book so why not just make a sex video and release it in the vast wonderlands of the internet? If you insist an author needs to earn his living writing then I have bad news for you. There is probably just one or two male pornstars making their living in adult movies in Japan. And even for them it is not exactly a luxurious life but merely being able to eat and pay rent.

OK, I was just going to let your question slide, rather than get into a discussion about penis envy.

However, since this thread was resurrected, I might as well satisfy MikeH's curiously, curious curiosity.

Now, should I admit that I just made the whole diagnosis up, and give MikeH a big ego boost for exposing me as a fraud...

or should I use my superior research skills to verify my superior intellect?

Well, my big ego is the reason for my enormous rental bill every month as it now occupies two rooms by itself. So definitely I have no need for any more ego boosts, thank you very much.

And I actually do appreciate a good story over the facts around nine times out of ten, so your image just went up a notch in my scale.

I was really just surprised to hear about that aspect in regards of Oedipus as AFAIK in the "original" story he killed his father without even knowing it was his father so no form of envy, penis or not, was never a part of that plot. More than the Freudian version of son's love to her mother the story was about person's inability to avoid fulfilling prophecies.
