Hello. First time poster & reviewer.

Sorry, please bear with me, with this introduction. Hope you will enjoy (maybe laugh even) reading about my first experience with fuuzoku in Japan, first experience with soapland, first experience at Yoshiwara.

The story of how the day I took the plunge came about - I am a long time resident (now PR) in Japan. The past 4-5 weeks or so, I have been training for a full marathon. So, my body was really praying for a good massage. I had gone before to those reflexology massage chains (the Rafines, Reraku, etc.) but they were no better than a massage chair. So, started looking at oil massage chains, then found various mens' estes on the net, then figured out that these men's estes were actually giving out sexual erotic massages. Further research then brought me to delivery health services. By this time, I had already forgotten about the original purpose of getting relief for my aching leg muscles, and was considering having my first fuuzoku experience.

After some research, I settled for Hybrid Health Massage Gotanda Branch (http://gotanda.o-renai.jp/hybrid/hybrid_01.php). However, after picking up the courage to make the phone call, I was disappointed when the guy on the phone told me that they don't serve foreigners, despite my insistence that my Japanese is fluent.

It was after that that I stumbled upon TAG and read about some places that are not gaijin friendly, for various reasons. I was almost ready to opt for the (apparently) gaijin friendly JK Style and Tokyo Escort Massage. However, after further reading of TAG reviews revealed another option - soaplands and their general (unofficial) acceptance of FS.

Further reading of the Yoshiwara Resource Thread, I settled on Dolce as a fuuzoku experience with the JK look felt very Japan, perfect for my first experience.

Somewhat trauma-ed by the rejection on the phone by Hybrid Health, I decided to just wing it to Minowa station and walk-in rather than call. Arrived at Minowa station at 18:45, and was a bit surprised that Yoshikawa was a bit of a walk to. Anyhow, arrived and found Dolce easily with only one tout stopping me on the way. Quiet evening maybe.

At the Dolce front, there were 3 frontman, and when I told them that I was foreigner and could speak Japanese fluently, they thought for about probably 5 sec, then told me that unfortunately the girls on duty that night would not be accepting foreigners. Shocked me a bit since I saw online that some girls who had been serving TAG members were on duty that night. However, since this was my first trip to Yoshiwaza, I decided to gracefully accept their rejection.

Coming out of Dolce, I saw Silky Doll which I remembered from TAG was a cheaper sister of the high end Last Scene and Satin Doll. But since that was the only fact I knew, I quickly tried to remember other places. Despite reading more on Putit Royal, Naniwa and Kings Club, my feet somehow brought me to Darling Harbour. Why? Maybe because it was easier to find?
The review on my session at DH, my 1st fuuzoku experience, is in Part (2), in the Review section.

After DH, I was hungry for more. Debated with myself on whether to wait a bit longer, but the next day, I had an opportunity to get off work early, and decided to try again for Dolce, and succeeded.
The review on my session at Dolce, my 2nd fuuzoku experience, is in Part (3), in the Review section.

Please check out my thoughts on fuuzoku after the two experiences, and some questions for my next fuuzoku experience in Part (4), in the Questions section.

Thanks for writing about your experience, for some cases they seem to flip/flop on foreigners. Your experience at Dolce isn't unheard of... some shops are more consistent about foreigner access. And as you saw, even speaking fluent Japanese won't help in some cases, that I would label as xenophobic. Someone who can speak the language and can understand the rules shouldn't cause any problems.

Sorry it took so long to acknowledge this, trying to keep up! ;)
