Sooo, I’m going to Tokyo this July and I’m still 19 by then. I wanna have drinks and such at dinner and I’m wondering if they check your id if I were to order a beer or something with the food? Tyty
You should see at the local universities how much they drink on-campus during the Gakuensai (students festivals) and nobody give a damn... so I think you’re safe
That depends on the university and how many of their students have recently died in drunken stupors.
But you are right, outside of the campus nobody cares how much an 18 year old drinks and every place is happy to serve them as long as they have money.
Yep, back in the late 80s when I first arrived here, I had a bartending job for a while.
It was crazy huh? Imagine those machines in Europe or America..During those days I used to tell everyone the legal drinking age in Japan is 12 or if you have a friend then it's 8. Because that's how much height you needed to push the buttons for a whiskey vending machine.

Great idea!Nowadays it's not as wild as in the 80s particularly in those of private universities....nevertheless I happened to be in the gakuensai of the Tokyo University of Arts some years ago and found it was really fun - a lot of booze with good music. It would be a nice event to go with your SB. It usually takes place in the first week of September.
Great idea!
Well I went with her to 3 or 4 happening bar events and recently (for her bday) to a strip party where ladies-clients can strip too , so I suppose we are now ready to swallow a Gakuensai
Im just worried to meet some friend’s kids there.Urm...Uguisudani is 10 minutes' away by walk...
