Wait, don’t they already do that?
No. Typically the store collects the VAT or whatever tax and pays it to the govt later; don’t know of any countries where the govt gets paid their tax directly at point of sale from the buyer.

To be honest, I don’t really mind when the government gets my tax money if that is the argument used against digital currency

Recently, I returned to Japan from a trip to the states.

I am so excited to move to Japan come next year. About to submit my language school app, and I am so ready to be back in a city where I don't have to spend every moment outdoors constantly scanning the streets around me. It's the pedestrian equivalent of defensive driving and it's mentally draining.
