Any gaijin in here who don’t speak Japanese? What are your plans on navigating the scene in Japan once tourism gets going again?

gomenasai Mr. Soapland man but the yen is a bit in the gutter right now and I’d be willing to pay some top American dollar :greedy: if you excuse the fact that I don’t speak the same language as you but can still communicate excellently utilizing a 21st century device in our right pockets and the power of love arigato :joyful:

Communicate excellently during what exactly ? Are you gonna have your phone out the entire time where they wash you, take a bath with you, or do mat play with you ? The power of love isn't gonna help when the girl needs to communicate something on the spot and you're just standing/sitting/lying there looking like a kid not knowing what's going on.

I know my western philosophy on financial greed won’t work in Japan based on what I’ve read here. I find it incredibly strange how closed off Japan is in that regard - - and many others, but who am I to judge? My 2nd paragraph was mainly just to make light of the situation.

I won’t ruin what those of you who live there or are serious about learning Japanese (culture, customs, and language) have going. The purpose of this post is simply to ask people like me who don’t intent to get too involved how they plan on navigating the scene if they make the trip once tourism gets going again.

There’ll be loads of adult stuff aimed at tourists. Only problem (for the tourists) is it wont be very good.

The ladies and I have managed in every other country I’ve been to. Spain, Portugal, Germany (not a problem as I’m fluent), Istanbul, Dubai, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina. Combination of state of the art 1st world technology, good economics, and the power of love. :cat:

It has never been a problem (for me at least).

Yep, and I'm sure the power of bragging will do you wonders here as well

If you want the good stuff / service, you gonna learn the language. Even if you do learn the language there's no guarantee they would invite you into the shops but at least you would have better chances than ZERO Japanese.

There ARE SL or DH shops that accept ZERO Japanese foreigners so your choices are more limited but not like none at all.

Three things:

1. In regards to your title, “Japanese Only” soaplands, this is because more and more people who don’t bother to learn the language come here and ruin shit. Fuzoku in Japan is targeted at nationals, not us—they tolerate us because they want the extra money, but do not need it.

If it sours your stomach that Japanese women don’t want to fuck you while holding a phone, then learn fucking Japanese before fucking fucking Japanese.

2. Fuzoku runs legally, but through a series of legal loopholes. This means that it also has to deal with economic functions that could be relevant/irrelevant to currency value. A weak yen isn’t going to get tencho to want our dirty gaijin money. A lot of them are convinced we are STI-ridden, BBFS-demanding rapists who want to violate their females’ cute Japanese pussies and will show a fierce ❌ to anyone non-Asian looking until the bitter end.

Seriously, waving money around like it is a god in this country is going to get you in deep shit. I really suggest fixing that attitude before you come here and fuck up good things for the rest of us.

3. You’ve been on this site for some time. You should know better than this by now.

If you don’t want to get “too involved” but want to navigate, why the hell don’t you go through the regularly reviewed channels like AM or Independent Escorts? Why do you have to whine and throw your weight around until you get an answer you want to hear?

Japanese here, no one cares if you have money, there are thousands of single desperate Japanese men lining up to fuck. Most providers are “Japanese only” because foreigners come, not knowing shit about rules and manners and fuck everything up, making them not want to deal with foreigners at all. If you’re going to come to Japan, at the very least TRY to learn the language, or you’re better off finding a girl naturally at a club or some dating app

I am not bragging.. you forum members more settled in/living in Japan are the ones getting way more Soapland experience after all :banghead:

Thanks for taking the time to write the informative post. I am familiar with Japan a lot more than I was prior to this forum thanks to all of your help. I am not whining - the second paragraph was just to make lighthearted of the circumstances. I am not a bad tourist, I promise. The culture is what it is and you have to accept that. It's their country, not ours.

Thank you friend. Depending on how comfortable I feel in Japan I may try to extend my stay to 3-4 months and actually try to learn the culture, customs, and language. We'll see how things go. :bookworm: Based off my time in the forum, I've learned it's not always necessarily a racism or xenophobic thing, but much of Japan is just afraid of foreigners because they genuinely feel we do not understand the culture.

Do you have any idea how offensive you're being right now?
How is what I said offensive? Have you not seen how much the Japanese Yen is crashing compared to the USD? Same for the Euro. And the British Pound. And Turkish Lira. And I have roots in Europe - no, I am not saying that as one of those Americans whose great-great grandfather was 1/4 Irish or whatever; I carry two passports. Am I being offensive to my 2nd home?

Don't make it any more complicated than it is.

I don't usually participate in these discussions because I understand both sides. I've lived here along time and can't speak the language but I do understand the system. I personally use body language and try to be bouncy/happy/smiley. Not a threat by any means. My appearance may account for some positive feedback. I understand the word no and even though I don't like I don't make a fuss. When I see soapland touts I can catch their drift towards me yes or no. I'm an old fucker and I can still almost get what I want......just be friendly.....I mean....you are trying to go have a good time.
I agree that if your brain can still function at remembering shit....learn the language up to a point that you'll get a positive possible result instead of arms crossed in front of you.

Good morning all

Great comment. This is why I've tried not to be too active on the forum yet. I want to base my experiences off my own. I look about as intimidating as a Powerpuff Girl irl. I'm probably the same height and stature as most of these Japanese girls. I do have money and when I'm in a country as safe as Japan and a people that are as particular on appearance & customs as Japanese tend to be, I want to dress with aesthetic because you DO represent your country when you are traveling or living outside it. I'm just a very soft person and I'll be first to admit that.

Now I'm not saying the fact that I'm not intimidating and clean will be enough to let me in a Soapland. Honestly it probably won't. But if I get a good impression of the country my first 2-3 weeks I'll dive a bit further in and try to learn the language. If I don't feel welcome I'll fuck off back to where I came from.

I don't think it's bad to hold off on investing in learning a language & culture if you've never dealt first hand with it yet and don't know how the people will react to you yet.

Japan has some serious cracks that are not visible until you live here for a period of time. If you're here for just a few weeks, you'll never see what the real Japan looks like. They are very good at masking themselves and inviting you in for as long as they'll tolerate you. The language is required to live here more comfortably and reduce stress from everyday tasks... but you can certainly live in an English bubble and ignore the world.

I've found that they will most likely tell you what they think you want to hear. There's a standing bar in my hood that is becoming rather famous. When patrons converse with me they laugh when I tell them how long I've been here and can't speak the language. My reply in broken Japanese is. "How many years you study English"? and then lay my head on my arm like I'm sleeping. then we all laugh and say cheers. Humor goes along way with The Japanese...men and women that I've encountered.

As so I've heard. And I'm not sure I'm patient enough or have thick enough skin to want to chip away to its core. Like I said, I'm a big softie. I think it's fine to be a visitor 4-6 months. Maybe even 2 years. But the tone changes when you come back with a big smile on your face and suddenly jump to tell them you've sold your house & possessions back home.

Some places are fine to visit, but they don't necessarily want you to live there. I'm not saying Japan is either, neither, or the other; like I said, I have yet to visit so I can't base my experience.

Japan tolerates foreigners because it needs them. The upside is that most Japanese aren't brave enough to tell you how they really feel, unless maybe they're drunk, so you'll rarely, if ever face any direct interaction on the topic. I've been here way too long at this point and I'm ready to get out.

From a newbie point of experience in p4p, is astonishing the way the play changes if you know japanese. It happened to me, first soapland in 2019, 0 japanese with a girl who spoke english. Play was wonderful, but soon things changed, went back to my country and i knew i had to learn japanese for the sake of coming here again the proper way.

In April i started the safe and comfy way with Manami, then with another girl only in japanese, and recently with another one in club diamond all in japanese as well, and my level is only N4 so you dont really need to speak high level keigo or anything like that...
But seriously, between those two experiences in full japanese, 3 months of study have passed and i could tell the difference in attitude of the provider, they actually feel more open and closer when they know we can strike conversation so, yeah, when everyone here says "Learn japanese", they say it because they actually care to give good advice for us and the girls to have fun the proper way.

I think there are a lot of relevant points above, but to expand upon some things from requiemmorrow and TAG Manager: no matter how fluent you might be with Japanese culture and language (and one does not necessarily equal the other), your presence in society at large and especially in the world of adult services is almost always going to be tolerated rather than appreciated.

I don't patronize soaplands, more of a delivery/hotel health person, but even in places where I have zero difficulties with communication and am friendly with the staff, there is always an unspoken understanding that my privileges are given because I am respectful to store staff and providers, well-behaved, and I recognize that those privileges could be revoked at any moment. There are shops that I used previously and they no longer accept foreign clientele; if I drop in, they don't tell me to leave, they just calmly explain that they do not have girls willing to service me that day. (So, politely telling me to leave.) In soaplands, where you can be physically seen by other patrons, it's not necessarily great for business. Unless a shop is actively pursuing non-Japanese customers (at a premium, natch), I get the impression that they don't want to upset their majority Japanese clientele.

As long as you are visibly or audibly foreign (and don't deceive yourself, no matter what you might think, your accent will almost always betray you), there's a glass ceiling in terms of how you are treated and it always goes back to your non-Japanese status. Weird personality? Physical impairment? It's obviously because you are not Japanese, no other possible reason. So, yeah, learning the language can be very helpful, especially with the providers themselves, but it's no panacea given the overall structure of the fuzoku industry.

You're dealing with a society that'll wait in line at a restaurant for an hour when there are two or three available that are just as good to eat at right then and there. It's irrational but yes, they'll turn down your global inflation stronger dollar if they don't know you or think you're going to bring problems. There are still plenty of places that'll take your money so don't get stick up your ass that the "higher quality" ones will refuse your money cause you're not the right nationality and/or lack literacy and fluency in the local language. A number of us that do speak the language and live here have still been there where a shop that accepted us six months later give the no good sign then six months after that are dragging off the street to come in. Just deal with it in a way that benefits you and others the most.
