Boredom has pushed me to try out different avenues to connect with people. So I’ve been trying this happy mail app. In Jan I had a very unpleasant experience in a similar but different app that made me not want to use that those kinds of apps ever again. But here I am.

I believe 90 percent of the people there are pros. Usually they start with “I’m a housewife recently divorced”, “I’m looking for a boyfriend”. Then after couple messages they say “I don’t want to be taken advantage of for free so please consider 2-3 man”, “I need to buy a bag which costs 2 man help me out”. etc.

Then I saw this girl whose only concern is food. “Let’s have dinner.” “Dinner date”.... I see 14 different posts/ads of her about having dinner in different places which are relatively cheap.

I contact her, she asks me to buy 1 man worth gift card. I say okay, I guess that’s the price *shrug*. Then she asks me to buy mos burger gift card. Then she asks me to buy a food from moderate range restaurant. I’m confused at this point, I haven’t bought anything for her yet, until I meet her not a cent is leaving me. But what’s going on, is she preparing for the apocalypse? Or is the sum total of those gift cards supposed to be her price? I’m completely foreign to anything papa. Is it papa stuff?

So I tell her I’m confused, please look for someone else.

Now she’s calling me, I didn’t pick up. My mic setting was off. She says “lets start with dinner” and sends me cheap restaurant location.

Should I meet her? What’s goin on here?

Oh btw, I’ve been in solitude from mid February, only left my room once a week for groceries and nightly runs. I think I deserve a one time meeting mkay.

In short - Don't give those gift cards away until you meet and are satisfied. If they don't want to meet but want the gift card first, block them and walk away. Unless you're okay just giving out free money.

Scams and desperation are high in the current situation.

Thing is I don’t even want a dinner or meal together, I just want to bang her, pay the price and goodbye out of there. When I approached her first it was pretty much “遊び興味あります?". She replies with ロフトギフトちょうだい。

I’ve agreed to meet her, but idk if I’m paying for a meal together or you know... my 目的.

If she asks for gift cards during the meal, idk what I should do.

I don’t want to ask her like “I buy you muffins, you sleep with me right?”

Lol, just hire a regular escort instead of this gift card shit....this sounds more complicated than it has to be

Agree, why play this game with someone who's obviously got issues? If you know you just want to pay to fuck, pay to fuck with a guaranteed lay (escort). I mean, if you're bored and want to play Dr. Phil with some troubled young girl then that could be entertaining in other ways, but I'm inclined to be less adventurous until this pandemic is over. And don't discount just going solo for now. Staying home and beating off with Pornhub is only a waste of time if you're doing it sober.

Certainly, why do you need to over complicate such kind of relationships?
Decide what you are looking for: escort, sugar baby, NSA, casual encounter... each one has different expectations, rules and risks. Don’t waste your time with girls who are not on your page.

I have a very unforgettable experience with this happy mail app.

Exchange mails and ask if im down for some quickie for 20000¥. So then i decided to meet her in meguro station. Greeted me like an angel, very pretty and young i would say but got a fucking evil plan all along. So long story short she decided we go to this cheap ass love hotel where it is like cubicles so if you cry for help the staff would clearly hear it and here starts the fucking nightmare. So we started to undress but before making a move. She ask for the money and quickly put it in her bag. After it when i started to hold her there she goes started screaming like she was fucking rape “ tasukete kudasai” i was like wtf i am into now. Staff comes and told us to keep our voice down and just talk it out. Asking for the money back and she said you already gave it so fuck off and go home or else i will call the police. Keeps saying we have our conversation and your email and took a sneaky picture of me. Trying to scare the shit out of me.

go home or i will call the police!

and there goes my hard earned 20000¥ in just a minute.

Should have let her call the cops - you've got the evidence of it being an arrangement, and that's NOT illegal - at least, as long as she was over 18, that is. Fraud, on the other hand, is.

I feel really sorry for you. This is the kind of story which put me in a state of rage, seriously.
But on the bright side, you were not arrested, not beaten up and you could live for another day...
Be careful next time... my experience is that if sthg seems too good to be true, well it is most likely not true

I really wish people would stop making those ignorant generalisations. People saying idiotic things like this are why so many foreigners here avoid the police and end up getting ripped off or assaulted without recourse.

The police do not automatically side with the Japanese national. This trope is a holdover from the decades ago.

These days, the police actually have oversight, and are terrified of being marked as being racist (hence their reluctance to crack on the Kabukicho/Roppongi Nigerian crews).

yeah, remember the good old days when there was an Iranians « problem » and nearly overnight they deported or jailed or whatever most of them?
Those were the good times

Yeah, they made illegal overstay an actual criminal offense instead of simply an immigration offense, and most of them were illegal overstayers, Iranian army deserters from the Iran-Iraq war.

Interestingly, most of them were never arrested, they took advantage of the amnesty before arrests started happening and left Japan voluntarily.

If they left voluntarily, they got to choose where they were going to go - deportees got sent to Iran, where they were facing instant prison sentences.

A Japanese lady? Would surprise me.

It not necessary to disqualify or insult people to defend your opinion here. I could explain a couple of personal experiences to you, one just crossing the street and trying to save an old lady from being run over. Such an incident with the police leads you to a call to your lawyer or the embassy. Although surely we are not all as smart as you.

He didn't say anybody is an idiot; just that claiming the police here always sides with the pure Yamato-blood is an idiotic claim.

Which it is, as it certainly isn't true. Your personal experiences can prove the police sometimes sides with them, or more likely, that some of the police on the street are indeed idiots. But my experiences will prove it's not always the case; in fact with my dealings with them I have always felt they treat me like a normal citizen. Which obviously sucks when you try to get away with something you have done. :p

There were two comments about [some] people make ignorant generalizations and say idiotic things. If that is not a disqualification and calling someone ignorant or idiot, dictionaries should change definitions for both adjectives. BTW, I have limited myself to stating a latent risk when there is a controversy with the local police -as many other countries-. I also have very good experiences with the Japanese police, which you can read in one of my posts in TAG. But that does not eliminate the inherent risk. Just remember the case of ex-Toyota executive Julie Hamp. She was released from custody without charge 20 days after she was arrested in Tokyo for allegedly importing 57 tablets of the painkiller oxycodone for personal use without permission. Saying that, I fully agree with you, nothing is written in stone.

Yeah, she is a prime example how foreigners get easier treatment than locals. She tried to smuggle drugs to the country in a jewelry case. Japanese person trying that would have ended in jail.

At least she lost her job with Toyota, as I remember it.
