Six o'clock news

Recently, I noticed that NHK-G now offers a bilingual service for its short news broadcast at 6 p.m. The original program is, of course, in Japanese, but you can hit the audio switching button on your remote control to get simultaneous English interpretation. Occasionally, other programs on either NHK-G or NHK-E will have an English option.

By the way, all this should not be confused with NHK World, which is a different channel aimed mostly at viewers outside of Japan.

There is a longer news show at 7 p.m. most nights on NHK General TV. It also has the bilingual option.

Just learned that NHK-G's 9 p.m. news show also can be heard in English using the bilingual option. It airs from Mondays through Fridays.
