I was modestly minding my own business outside of Hotel Wing in Ikebukuro today when I happened upon this young lady and gentleman having a seriously heated argument.
Keeping my distance, I still managed to listen to part of the argument and it was in broken English. That was surprising, so I edged my way a little closer and decided that I needed a drink and walked over to a vending machine that was slightly closer to the entrance of the hotel where this was going on...
The couple was not Japanese but some sort of Asian mix but still using unclear English to communicate. The basic content of the argument had to do with him seeing some other woman. Along the lines of "You told me you were done with her and that you wouldn't see her again!!!!" -- this phrase was repeated a few times over with her left-hand sort of pushing on his right shoulder, nothing serious. She was holding some shopping bags and her purse in the right hand. He didn't really say much but she was livid over whatever this issue was.
This argument goes on for a while and then a game changer happens....
.... the other woman walks out of the cafe on the 1st floor of that Hotel. Needless to say, some verbal sparks flew between the two women about this guy who was just standing aside letting these two women hash it out. (Note: Women were not wearing masks, but he was...) -- They argue back and forth pointing fingers and over expressive hand motions.
Eventually the dude goes back into the cafe and gets his coat and the other women's bag. He made his choice by leaving with the 'other woman'. But from what I gather, this other girl I saw outside had either gone into the cafe or walked by and had seen this dude with the other woman. He had been in the cafe with the other woman as evident by their belongings which he collected and returned with.
At this point, they are walking off, the first girl is just distraught with anger or whatever and I decided it was time to go because I did not want her to notice me taking forever at the vending machine.
Ah, to be that young and these sorts of issues are a life and death struggle. I don't poke fun at the girl that got hurt here, but I bet there was some dishonesty on the part of all three of the participants.
And that was my entertainment while in Ikebukuro today.
