Well that was a silly choice of hotel...

It was hot, couldn't be bothered to walk further to a previous location, chose random hotel, picked room from computer screen, failed to grok the lack of visible "front" (reception), went to room, made the call, knock on the door, damn it doesn't open, AAAARGH it's pay-the-machine-on-exiting-the-room, called the number on the room phone for assistance, problem solved but it was a rather mood-killing 5 minutes. Lesson learned.

The hotels with payment machines in them that I have been to, always wanted the money up front. If you leave later than the paid amount (or don't pay at all), the door will be locked and you have to pay more.
