What was your best way, spending your birthday on your own, but made it memorable and special?

My birthday is just around the corner. Booked to stay at a 5 star hotel, at an executive double near my work, with Mt.Fuji expected view from the room. Sadly, I don't have a bf or a partner, to have hot sex feast night. (;_;)Just to experience the same type of room that US visitors from my previous office stayed. Booked to have afternoon tea at the hotel with my friends. Took half day off the next day, to stay fully until check out time, and walk up to the office.

What should I do at a hotel room, myself being alone...

Any creative ideas?

Well, I think air BJ was already mentioned :p.

My suggestion is to browse TAG :D

Perhaps, practice air bj all night and make a good promotional video, partially post on you tube might be silly and fun??? Sounds so consistent (^ー^) hahaha!

Oh, browse TAG! One of my favourite things to do! I bet for you guy too, right? (๑╹ω╹๑ )

Sorry don't understand that alone stuff ;) just bring someone to your room and have that hot sex.

Well, for alone stuff,,,I thought of travelling overseas, but I've already spent a couple of mans bought some nice bags for myself, rather than spending more to travel overseas, I thought would be nice to stay overnight,at a beautiful 5 star hotel near my work, which I always wanted to stay. Still several mans to be spent, though.
Would be lovely to bring in someone? I don't take a risk... so,,,not at random...

The day before your birthday should be memorable, too. Perhaps more so. I had one of those day-before-memories. 忘年会 can/should encompass much more than the end of a calendar year. So happy to add a western twist to a Japanese expression and to have done it in Shinjuku with a truly precious TAG member.

That's interesting. The day before...That's when mothers start struggling to be ready to give out birth! Mixed with such excitement and anxiety moment! So, you cheerish that moment with joy.
Birthdays tend to be just another day, and rest all day long. I'm such a at home type, when not working. Appreciate my mother for her great work done, baak then.

Glad you have a nice memorable, year forgetting party with TAG members. That must had been truly fun! Thanks for sharing the twist!

I used to have a relatively big b-day party every year when I was about 25 - 30 y.o. Usually booked a nice restaurant; I miss "Soho" in Harajuku now turned to be Gold gym, invited about 10 close friends, ordered prefix course with all you can drink plan. I required them 1.to not bring any gifts 2 dress up themselves as much as possible. I actually planned my 30's B-day party having on the Symphony, Tokyo bay cruise boat then I realized nobody could not be late at all otherwise...
As some of you know, I closed off my business once about 5? years ago. I invited 5 of my very close friends from uni. to fancy dinner at Japanese restaurant in Ginza, we stayed at Peninsula and finished the farewell-Manami-feast with fine breakfast next morning. It cost me like 350K but it was fun! So when I opened my business again, they were like "What!? What was the all Peninsula night about?" They are joking it still!
My last b-day party was held at some fancy Japanese restaurant. Invited the usual 5, called two Shamisen players to our room, chartered Limo and drove to Tokyo tower after dinner. I am already excited to plan the next one...

If I would stay at a fine 5 star hotel by myself to celebrate my special day, I would check out the hotel bar at night ( I don't drink but I like the atmosphere.), make a reservation for spa ( Park hyatt spa is significant for example) read a romantic book over the nice view from the window, take a looooong bath with Kneipp Gute Nacht, be lazy in bed until next late morning and enjoy the room service branch to close off the memorable experience.

this is maybe how NOT to celebrate your bday :)

I've lived mostly away from my family. I stopped celebrating when I hit 30yo. Instead of the usual party, drinking, etc I do something that makes me feel alive ... or be thankful of being still alive ... I don't always do it my birthday but I plan on doing it within the year.

I stayed for 3 days in Onomichi 3 years ago with my bicycle. Everyday I went out to ride my bike. One time I stayed in Fuji for 3 days. Travelled from one 5th station to another by bus. Traversed the midline of Fuji (ochudo trail). On the last day, I did a day time climb up the summit. Fine day, one could see Suruga bay. On this day I almost fell flat on my face on the descent of the Fujinomiya trail! Another day I went up the nearby Ashitakayama. Last year, I just spent time w/ women ... lots of them. Wallet is lighter but I won't trade the experiences for anything else. This year ... i'm still thinking.

Wow!!! What a great party planner, Manami! Sounded very exciting!!! Thanks for sharing that!

I'm rather a quiet, intro type, who mostly spend queit birthdays, just another day. But it's nice to make it memorable.

Right, should hunt bath goods from today! Noted! Making bubble bath.

Visit the bar? Alone...I'll try...I'm not used to the bar scenes...but maybe you never know,. there might be a present waiting, to meet someone...!!

Thanks for great ideas, Manami!

That's an interesting one that you planned something that you can feel alive!!! Such a challenge! Sounds really like "guyz b'day" plan!
(o^^o) Hope you get an interesting one this year, too! Thanks for sharing.

The best night views of Tokyo are usually found in the bars of big hotels. The seats will be arranged so you can enjoy the view without feeling self-conscious. The atmosphere is totally different from regular bars so you need to drop by.

Right, I see! I can't wait!!! Thanks for the tips!

I'm not one for celebrating my birthdays, but I hope whatever you do it is more fun than my last one. I ended up delayed with a client and asked to do some work that I normally hire out to someone younger than myself due to the effort & danger involved. Result was an embarrassing situation that required getting rescued by my client after several hours at the end of a climbing rope.

@Yuriko may your birthday be better than that!

I've stopped celebrating when I was 13. Now I only remember it because of my wife, my son and facebook and I wouldn't bother celebrate it if I was on my own.

Pretty much the same in my case, but what in the world does that have to do with @Yuriko's question?

I just reacted to a message mate.
if you really want to link it that bad with Yuriko's question, then you could translate my message into "sorry I can't help you with any idea I'm not into birthdays".

That's fairy early to stop celebrating. And never celebrate on your own? Buy a nice dinner, or nice wine, do some activity? Just another day, since 13? No big celebration on your coming of age day? My question was, even having your family, they give you something, but you never buy something for yourself and celebrate on your own? Buy an escourt service...etc...(^ν^)
