So, still here in the states. Still hate my life, in Philly now out the military now. Depressed as fuck.

But why proud of me?

Someone asked about Japan in a sex worker Reddit…I felt uniquely qualified to answer this question.

Then some dude gave the stereotypical googled response of sop yu and legalities shit…how is everyone though?

Congrats on separation, been ages since I've see you post. A buddy of mine just relocated here from Philly last week and he's happy as shit. If you don't mind me asking, did you make your full 20?

Most of my buddies went through a rough patch after leaving the service, but there's an easy cure for that. Use your vet preference points, put in for a federal civilian gig, do some time and then put in for a transfer to Yokosuka (or any base in Japan). A number of my friends are milking that circuit, back and forth letting Uncle Sam pay the mortgage and making it rain in massage parlors and soaplands.

Another day, another opportunity to stick your cock in something interesting. Keep your dick up and the beer cold and the sun's always shining.

And they say France is a socialist country 🙄

Fair point, but stateside we do our best to take care of those who served. Not a perfect system by any measure, but also part of the reason why we never had to endure the humiliation of having to surrender to Nazis.

On a side note, very recently I was again offered a position managing a tiny, useless U.S. government office in France. Tasty cheese prospects notwithstanding, I turned it down. I'm far too old, stupid and bigoted to try learning a new language and doing a new country again.

Naaah you don’t need to study French . You will do just fine only speaking English . Trust me.

Seriously though since 1945 (and yeah, thanks for saving our asses) it seems to me that the cost / effectiveness of this highly socialized military (and all the parasites around them) decreased a lot. Eg Vietnam , Afghanistan and not so sure about Irak (looks ok now but there was ISIS fir a while , which was way worse than Saddam). Not that we do much better but it’s much less costly. So we can pay for stupid shit like you know, healthcare and education

The WOT was a much wider campaign than just Afghanistan and Iraq. It encompassed over 100 countries. I can imagine that US firepower was easily deployed in Iraq since it was across the border. Afghanistan was always in the table due to the Taliban. More than likely, the real target was Saudi A, but no backing. So Iraq was to be the face of the WOT instead of say Peru or Venezuela, or Iran. Are wars worth it? Has there been a repeat of 9/11? Is billionaire money being used against the US? Is there more cooperation among US allies to stop terror? Furthermore, did the U.S. achieve the one thing that Americans wanted early on after 9/11? The answer to that is, yes. And certainly, the ultimate goal was realize. Was it worth it? You will have to ask the sacrificial lambs Powell and Hussein. You could ask Dick. No not MikeH but Cheney.

See , the problem is that this War On Terror thing didn’t have to be a war on a specific country. Attacking Irak for 9/11 was dumb (I remember at the time we were the awful “cheese eating surrender monkeys” that dared to say to the US they had zero proof Saddam was behind 9/11 and that he had WMDs, now everyone agree we were right, including most Republicans)
In hindsight maybe a few assholes in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan should have paid the price , not the countries themselves of course (they are supposedly US allies)

But you forgot one line: Americans wanted country blood. If you go back to the fringe reporting, you will see what Americans demanded. The government does what it does to look strong. But it did root out terror.

Mainly if you want to blame anyone for this, focus on the two government agencies responsible. All that happened after they bungled their responses is on those men and women. There’s a list of names, probably mainstream if you love this type of read.

Everyone has their take, but the WOT was going to happen with or without Iraq. There’s a book that focuses on the Bush family. You could easily blame Iraq on 1 high ranking Brit and 1 high ranking Irish Priest.

Or you could say that one mainstream interview with a former concubine of Hussein lead to the invasion.

But inevitably, once it happened, you knew US firepower would be displayed.

Maybe . But it really lowered the US’s credibility long term. Look at all the idiots saying now that Putin is just doing the same thing as Bush , so why should we blame him?

In 2009 we went on a trip to Paris with my class. Went to Maccas of course, ordered in English. French guy didn't understand hamburger! But I am sure France evolved in the past 14 years!

Yeah, I was obviously sarcastic

Can verify, I ordered hamburger this fall in Paris. It is possible nowadays 🤣

I tried ordering (only) 8 beers at the McD on the Champs-Elysees. The counter staff politely insisted I also need to purchase food to buy beer. So I ordered 1 small fries to appease him and got my beers. 😇

Actually, it was in 2008 and to be fair: I was like 15 so I was totally nervous ordering, so it was on me.

These days I am far more confident, unless I have to talk to women.

Thirty points??? I think you'll be fine. When I was in the final stages of processing with a very, very selective fed agency, I think most of the other guys with conditional appointments and vet preference had 5 points.
