Doesnt seem to be available yet on amazon video. Anyone know when and where this will be available?

I was kinda hoping to not have to watch the final season on a shitty stream.

Just watched it on Solar. Great quality and zero lag

Season 8 just aired a few hours ago on HBO - so it’s not going to be on Amazon anytime soon.

Get yourself a VPN and torrent each episode as they are released on HBO/Sky.

I heard that somebody just downloaded it from 1337x.to and it took just 15 minutes or so.

They also show it live at 10am each monday.

Wow, I hope this is not a joke. I always thought amazon prime japan was worthless.. but great to hear I can get my GoT on soon and legally!!

Kind of odd seeing they don't even have season 7 listed as available to watch.

Amazon Japan pages tell me that seasons 7 and 8 are only available with Star Channel EX - Drama & Classics subscription.

The additional cost for the Star Channel sub is under 1,000 per month and you get a 14 day free trial to start. I signed up yesterday, so should get episodes 1 and 2 as part of the free trial, and since it’s a short season should end up paying only for the following month. At a marginal cost of less than 1,000 yen to watch the whole season, I’ll take it. (I also need Japanese subtitles as my wife also watches.)

Btw, it comes out on demand on Wednesdays, but you can watch the “live” broadcast at 10 AM and 10 PM Mondays as well. That’s how I watched last night.

One would actually have to have cable/satellite service. I use AppleTV/Netflix/Hulu to watch all my programming. Hence the hoping that Amazon Prime would come through. :-\ I also don't turrent stuff, I don't want to risk it being in a country where I can get kicked out.

I'm wondering if reddit might have something...........it has everything else

I was talking about the Star Channel optional subscription through Amazon prime, not a separate subscription to The Star Channel BS service (which is more expensive, I think like 2400 yen a month). I watched it through the Amazon prime video app on my TV, so I would think that you could do the same on your Apple TV.

Edited to add:
Here’s the link to the Amazon.co.jp site:

I see it wasn't clear that it was a separate service offered with Amazon Prime. Just started my "trial" membership, so I should be able to watch it sometime today.

I have never watched an episode of GoT. This thread got me interested.

I don't watch much "television". I started to google the best TV shows ever ...GoT is prominent on all the lists. But some of the lists also contain "Friends" and the "Golden Girls"...... proving that opinons (are like assholes)/(are only as good as the person they are coming from).

So what are your top 3 or 5 TV shows ever, and is GoT on the list?

Top five in the last two decades without stopping to think about it would be: GoT, The Wire, Sopranos, Westworld and Six Feet Under. Bubbling under: Better Call Saul.

All of those I've watched till the end without losing interest. There are plenty which had great first or even few seasons but that I stopped watching in some point. Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, True Detective, Orange is the New Black.

What turned you off Breaking Bad?

House of Cards - I won’t watch the rest where Kevin Spacey was removed.

Game of Thrones - you either like it or you don’t. Most people I’ve talked to about it, are hooked on it like me. Some I meet, just don’t care for it.

I have no idea what will fill the void once GOT is over in a few weeks. Spin Offs? Prequels? Who knows....

I lied there a bit; it was the one of that list that I watched till the end, others I quit in the middle. But I think the main characters stopped developing somewhere during the fourth season and then I couldn't really find myself care if they get killed or not. The show still had its moments but in general I just let it run in one of the monitors while I was working on the others and basically just listened what's going on.

I have Sopranos, The Wire and Six Feet Under in my top 5 too. Also Seinfeld and then a it's a toss-up between Mad Men and West Wing for me. I love GoT, but don't really think it's up there with the greatest in terms of quality. More of a guilty pleasure - liberal amounts of dragons, sword fights and boobs will always be entertaining.

Right now the other shows I'm watching that I really like are Billions and Better Things. Really different shows, but both have great soundtracks.
