Even After X amount of years in Japan I'll never get used to____

Really? We must have been fortunate because our vet readily agreed to do so. He even expressed surprise that we would do so considering our situation. That whole clinic was just incredibly supportive of us.
You got lucky(?)... I've never dealt with a vet outside of Tokyo, so the attitude may be different if you were elsewhere.

I have also had to bring one stray I found left in the streets to the vet for a checkup and then to the last injection after the findings. At least that doc didn't have any problems, though it might have been also because she was a stray.

But in the area I live now I do see lot of overweight tiny dogs being "walked" outside in a baby carriage. Every time I have to resist the temptation to go and ask the owner if she is aware the dog actually has legs it could use to walk by itself.

Yeah, most vets in Tokyo, the animal has to be in serious distress before they'll consider it. Some vets won't do it even then.

Like @TAG Manager says, this became a thing when vanity pets became a thing.

People definitely treat their animals much much better these days than they did when I first arrived here, though.

I haven't seen a dog chained up outside in the summer heat for years and years...

Vet's here are as bad as Dentists as far as business practices go.

Dentists aren't as bad as people make them out to be - a lot of the issues with dentists here are caused by billing and/or procedure restrictions imposed by national health.

We all know you only liked the dental college because it had hot young dental students. ;)

Fact. But with my luck I ended up with a dept head old guy with good english. I did tell him though I'd be open for a cleaning with a student doing the work. ;)

I have nothing but good experiences with dentists here. They have all been really hot or in a same sports team with me but nevertheless all have been also good at their profession.

I've been with the same dentist in Ginza for a number of years, no real issues to speak of during my time with them. I've had 2 wisdom teeth pulled here, both were done quite well and no real pain to speak of. Healing wasn't a treat, but that can't really be helped.

No need for a diamond tooth, a single veneer at an accredited dentist here costs about a diamond ring.. better to get them done overseas.

I also had good experiences with wisdom tooth extraction, mechanical cleaning etc, but for my smile makeover I opted to go overseas. Cosmetic dentistry is very expensive in Japan.

People when they part with their friends, start walking full speed on a collision course with me in a crowded area then abruptly turning around to wave goodbye to their friends while still walking really fast aaaaand being VERY SURPRISED that they bumped into me. -_-‘ Lady. Lady I’m not surprised.

Something I noticed recently , as I visit gyms more often:
compared to the old days it seems that more and more Japanese guys spend weirdly long time in the locker rooms.

Not to discuss pussy grabbing , like any decent future head of state would do, but they have apparently tons of stuff in their locker to sort out, need to spend about 20mn under the shower, dry their hair, apply whatever cream or lotion or Not-sure-what-it-is really on various parts of their body and hair , slowly dress up again, spend more time on their cellphone etc etc

i’m an old-school 10mn-max-including-shower guy (Mikey warning: we all know what kind of joke you will do with that), and being with dudes who spend more time to do all this than all my exes to do their make-up is a bit... annoying

Well, if you are bragging like that you should expect some jokes.

But it's exactly because guys like that why an old guy like me can get laid so I am not complaining. As long as they don't use the hair dryer for their pubes.

Even outside of Japan too this phenomenon.

What gets me is the tons of primping some guys will do before working out. My thinking is a good workout should leave you looking like shit. I mean you shouldn’t look like a slob going into the workout areas, but no need to worry about one’s perfect side comb fuckboy hairstyle when you’re about to go balls to the wall against the weights or do a good run on the treadmill. :cautious:

agreed and it’s probably more of a generational than country-based mutation

I think you might be very right with this one. The way I see the young guys work out in the gym will not ruin your hair or even get you sweaty.

But if I am not wrong it is a very Japanese thing for the guys to use the creams and lotions in every possible (and some impossible) body parts. When I was a young guy the only product I knew how to use was Vaseline. Now even the Japanese girls complain their boyfriends know more about make up than they do.

I’ll never get used to seeing tv news coverage of “U-turn rush”. They report on it like it is news the traffic is backed up so far.

“OMG! The Tomei Expressway inbound is backed up 50km from the Yokohama Machida IC.”

yeah....it was like that last year, and the year before that....
