It may have peaked in China but it’s still a concern everywhere else. More events cancelled and offices are still keeping people away for another week or so.

Peak of the virus has passed in china because of brutal lockdowns. It doesn't go away by itself, only works with forceful intervention. If you look at the numbers, outside of china the situation has worsened a lot. Italy now with 10k+ people sick etc.
I think because this has been going on for weeks, people are getting used to it. On the news there is no other topic, if you talk with friends it comes up constantly. It's just tiresome...but unfortunately the danger is far from over. Japan didn't approve new laws for nothing. I think we will also experience a lot of new restrictions in the upcoming weeks.

Covid-19 is not going to get the job done. It has is only killed 4000 worldwide so far and most of those are in Hubei, China. Your talking about taking 15 million in Japan alone. Covid has claimed 16 lives in Japan.( CNN stat)

But, you would hope when the dust settles on this, and the best scientific minds are applied to the debrief, the pros and cons of just letting the virus run freely would be fully considered. But even if the scientific community agree with you, not many politicians will want to deal with the moral issues - every life is sacred, it is our obligation to reproduce and survive blah blah blah. And then of course, the politicians are oldies. Can't see Bernie, Joe or Donald signing on for the "Logan's Run" pact.

Ive changed my mind anyway. I saw an old guy at lunch today. He was just walking along minding his own business. I felt kinda bad that I thought that maybe he should get Corona and die. I do still hope Trump gets it though.

I read he attended some conference where one attendee got it, but since he doesn't believe in that being serious, he didn't get tested yet.
There is definitely hope for you. Trump just hits all the check boxes for it being lethal. Even if not, he will probably spread it among his supporters with his typical ignorance.

Like when you claimed the primary means of transmission is respiratory droplets and tried to get people to panic buy N-95 masks so you could sell yours for more profit?

Yeah, my wording was confusing; the point being he claimed the main way of spreading is through airborne droplets when it is usually spread when first touching surfaces that have the virus and then your mouth or eyes.

Therefore the doctors (and WHO) tell us there is no need to use masks for protection. Unless you are carrying the virus, and then you use the mask to protect others.
 
SARS-CoV-2 is here to stay, at least until they develop a vaccine in a couple of years.

The question is, how violently is it going to spread? Because if it continues growing exponentially, all hospitals in the developed nations will run out of beds in the ICU, and we will have to see hundreds of people dying in the corridors of the hospitals. This is already happening in the north of Italy, where, with their state-of-the-art hospitals, they need to triage who gets intubated and who is let to die in a corridor with an oxygen mask.

Even if you are relatively young and you think that the virus is not likely to affect you, try not to have a traffic accident in the next months because, quite probably, the hospitals are not going to be able to offer you the best treatment, with the flood of patients with acute respiratory symptoms.

Went to the post office today. All employees had masks.
One lady employee a few seats down from me had her mask down under her chin and coughed loudly and forcefully with no attempt to cover up. She just sat there, starring in front of her, hacking up whatever.
Open mouth, loud cough, spraying the room.
No reaction from here or anyone.
I stared at her, then back to the person serving me. No reaction or acknowledgement.
I mean just on a normal day outside of a possible pandemic, that behaviour is surely rude at best, dangerous and sociopathic at worst.
So many questions:
Why wear a mask at all just to put it under your chin?
Does she always not cover her mouth when coughing?
Why did none of her colleagues ask her what the fuck she was doing?
Why didnt I ask her what the fuck she was doing?

Same than with me; there are now so many possible viruses and bacteria in the world that I am currently using condom all the time.

Except when peeing or fucking, because then it's of course not possible. Same with her, the mask makes it more cumbersome to cough.
