Drugs and obese? That seems a contradiction to me.

The best word here would be disheveled. His writing doesn't exactly correlate obesity and drugs... there are some people around that area that are over and underweight (by looks). It's just a mixture of people ... You have seen them right?

And personal opinion; I don't think these people are on drugs. Alcohol, yes.

There are many ways to make a living in japan. Esp if you are white. Teaching english or maybe some factory jobs. I wonder how he got in such situation.

As far as I know, Japanese are mostly considered 'yellow' and I think that's where the term 'yellow fever' comes from...

My wife says I'm pink. Most western whites are kinda "pink" in tone. So what's up with the pink homeless guy? Maybe TGSD (Token Gaijin Stress Disorder)??
