OMG yes. I love Charlize Theron. Atomic Blonde was so brilliant and polished. I actually have the dvd.

Man, I love Charlize Theron so much. Apart from her sweetheart role in Sweet November and a fragile spouse in Devil’s Advocate, she also had excellent turns in The Cider House Rules, Monster and In the Valley of Elah.

But my appreciation of her increased with her dramatic/ kick-ass roles in Hancock, Mad Max: Fury Road, Dark Places and Atomic Blonde. I read there’ll be an Atomic Blonde 2, so I’m amped to see that, too.

I agree, Biff was a really bad guy and the dad still let him hang around in the changed future like "aw, quirky Biff"

The movies were fun but the development was too slow sometimes, got me checking my phone a lot during watching them.

One thing that really cracked me up about the sequel were the similarities between rich Biff and Trump...
smartphones didn't exist last time I watched that trilogy :notworthy:

So many.. this is my favorite genre.
What comes to mind are:
X files
Fringe
Martian
Interstellar

I mean I'm a person who talks about how to colonize Mars after I have an orgasm.. lucky that for now there is no pregnancy risk in space travel :D

Excellent taste. I may have to book time with you just for the space-related pillow talk. Space is a passion of mine as well.

Oh, and I guess I should go. On top of those, I love Apollo 13 just for the realism, and Armageddon for the unrealism. I'd have to include Starship Troopers and Fifth Element for their sheer ridiculousness. Throw in Battlestar Galactica for the realistic physics in space. And I think Person of Interest is one of the best sci fi shows out there, well worth a watch if you like anything regarding AI.

I've just watched a documentary regarding AI. It's called Year Million I think.. Michi Kaku shares his views on AI.. its mainly about how AI will interact with and shape the future of human species.

But I would say we are already in the beginning chapter for AI. Look at Instagram. For the first time we are more concerned about how we look online than how we look in real life..

And the whole thing with Facebook is kinda bringing to the forefront how dangerous AI can be if we aren't careful.

This is one of my favorites too. I especially like Mr Reese, Shaw, and Shaw's Mentor (forgot his name, he died trying to disarm a large bomb) . Maybe it's a good thing (or a bad thing) that AI is just around the corner.
Based on my experience (without revealing too much about myself) AI is currently used to predict weather patterns also the ebb and flow of the major bodies of water on the planet. With these predictions, flooding (when and where) can be accurately (more or less, depending on how data one has to work with) determined.

Of course, AI can also be used for bad things. Such as sifting through and collecting voluminous amounts of data then this data will be sold by data brokers to whomever is interested.

Exactly. Like all things, there's an up side and a downside. My favorite upside to AI is how the IBM Watson AI is being used to analyze medical history and imaging scans in order to pinpoint a specific type of cancer and the best treatment for it, personalized for that specific patient's medical history.

So far, coders needs to write the algorithms/programs. The really scary part is people are now working on AI that could "write" its own code. This can be construed as "real AI". I guess this is similar to "the machine" in "person of interest"

Yeah, the self teaching AI that can rewrite its own codebase. That'll be scary once it happens.

Some of the 70s films I've repeatedly watched...
Sleeper
Slaughterhouse-Five
Silent Running

I've just read through the last four pages before adding to the list and almost overlooked your post. I agree with you that Silent Running was a great film and I've watched it a few times over the years.

I've seen Sleeper a couple of times but not for very many years. I'm almost afraid to watch it again in case it doesn't live up to my memory of how good I remember it to be.

However, a couple that I'd also like to mention that I don't think have been brought up so far, which are:-

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Logan's Run
The Time Machine (I think it was Terry Pratchett who said that, the most difficult part of time travel has always been finding a clothes shop that will keep the same dummy in its shop window for a hundred years)

Then there are also some very good TV series at the moment as well. Apart from the ones already mentioned I would also add Travelers which is on Netflix which has a bit of time travelling going on in a Quantum Leap sort of manner (although the show is nothing like Quantum Leap)

I feel I can understand what you mean. Fortunately in my first viewing I didn't understand why the orgasmatron was so funny, and it's become even funnier in subsequent viewings.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Why did I forget this one? This is the first Scifi film I saw in the cinema...

Maybe us white people should stop colonizing, lol
Well, more advanced countries have colonized less advanced countries. In most cases it was beneficial to the less advanced country i.e. transfer of technology, adoption of another language, and increased trade. But there is a downside, wherein the locals would be treated just a step above slaves.
