Best Places For Nampa

The Ginza 300 yen bar is a great Nampa spot. After 7 PM it starts getting a bit busy and by 10 PM it's shoulder to shoulder busy. It's a fairly well known place for people in their 20s-30s to hook up and that's pretty much what everyone is there to do. They have two locations: one located near Shinbashi Station and one near Ginza station.

All the drinks and food are 300 yen each but they use a ticket system rather than direct cash... So when you walk in you are required to buy at least three tickets (that you can then exchange for drinks)

Anyway it's a fun place and pretty easy to meet girls.

This place sounds interesting. Do they usually have a lot of foreigners or is it mainly Japanese?

Not very many foreigners most of the time. You'll stand out if you are a foreigner, making it even easier to approach people. One time there was a japanese guy there that was doing solo nampa and he actually asked me to be his wing man since me being foreign would easily help him open up sets...

It's a standing bar by the way, so moving around and mingling is very easy.

Been to Ginza 300 yen bar a couple of times and got phone numbers/contacts.

Problems were:

1) logistical. Where are HOTELS nearby Ginza 300 yen bar?

As a result, I tended to bring Ginza area ladies (after getting contacts) to dates at Shimbashi station (Karasumori exit) nearby, as was better logistically with hotels close to restaurants.

2) Lots of Japanese guys in there too trying to pickup.

A number of women were more OL types, who appeared overly concerned who was watching them or knew co-workers.

3) And some hard core after work drinkers seem to go there often. Creating a type of bar rat situation.

I consider bar rats and club rats a problem. The always coming there and know everybody type.

There have been few times a woman has ever drunk me under the table, and two of those times happen to be at the Ginza 300 bar. Chicks must of had a liver bypass. The problem being, people coming after work there JUST to drink like Japanese alcoholics and not hook up sexually. Some places have a hookup and go home vibe, where others don't.

sounds like a cool place. I used to frequent standing bars years ago with ex colleagues. Was fun because the girls are typically the type I like with interesting backgrounds!

Yep, I feel that this can be applied to plenty of bars though. Every bar will have its regulars...
The new location and the location near Shimbashi are all closer to other bars and hotels, making it much easier to take a chick out if you wish to escalate.

But yeah, do expect competition to some degree; everyone just hits on everyone at this place.

They are all pretty good, even on weekdays. Well, I have never been on a Sunday...

It's pretty slow until after 7 PM. Maybe around 8:30PM or so is the best time to arrive. A DJ eventually shows up and it gets pretty crowded.

I am more partial to the location closer the Shinbashi (8 chome) since its slightly bigger, but they are both pretty fun. I haven't been to the new location yet.

Edit: all three bars are pretty close to each other. You could easily hit up all three in one night actually.

One thing about this thread though... Why are the best places to do nampa considered to be bars and clubs by many?

I consider bars and clubs, especially these days in Japan, to be the WORSE places for pickup. These days, I usually TAKE a date/girlfriend with me OR my pals pushed me into going (to get drunk and man-talk).

And I understand this mentality more than most, because I had to make the switch myself. When I was in my 20s, especially earlier 20s, I was all about picking chicks up in clubs and bars. It was like, it's Friday and no pussy, OK time to go clubbing. Find some semi-drunk chick (IF lucky), and we decide to go to the hotel/apartment or get wild in a bathroom or car.

But those days are mostly gone in Japan. Often you have a group of Japanese women (Koreans are the almost the same) hanging together like scared lesbians, cock-blocking and having jealousy fits against each other, or pretending they are virgins in front of their girlfriends. And a lot of guys end up doing nothing in these bars or clubs but getting DRUNK, killing their liver and penis. Not to mention all the money SPENT. Easily can blow 10,000 yen (100 dollars) on just drinking for a night.

When I learned to say FUCK the bars and clubs, the number of women I had sex with went UP massively.

Talk to women EVERYWHERE. Street, train, bus, coffee shop, convenience store, video/dvd rental stores, McDonalds, etc...

I had sex with 2 women today, and one reason why is the number of contacts I get from randomly talking to women any place I want. It cost me NOTHING to get their contacts, just being BOLD about having a conversation.

More approaching women = more contacts = more dates = more sex

A club or bar, or going broke getting drunk, isn't a requirement to getting lots of contacts/phone numbers. Just saying...

I remember my friend took me to a club in either Takamatsu or Matsuyama and all they played was shitty music as far as they gay ass Bieber and I just couldn't get into the mood and it was irritating me to the point I called it a night. I am one of those guys that can get in high moods or get irritated because of a song being played. Like play some Boyz II Men, and I am ok. Play some Temptations, I feel like Robert Downey, Jr.

I tend to meet money interested in initially practicing English. I got nothing against that. I play along with that and work my way from there and it works for me.

Although practice is the most important factor, I would be interested by examples/stories of you you picking up in those places. Especially what you think made the difference between success and failure (for another thread I guess)

12/27 Saturday
8:00pm Start

There are 3 all in walking distance. Lots if nice restaurants around the area I suggest "Bali"

300 bars are pretty big all standing and packed 10-15% women. Everyone is there for nampa.

All drinks are 300 yen some snacks too


I went early around 8 pm, at this point is was 100% Japanese patrons with a steady stream rolling in. There were many Japanese pro nampa guys. They were not getting to far with the girls though. There were maybe 5 pairs of girls here. I was waiting for my wing man (a Japanese guy who speaks very good English he is also in sales which seems to help)

We left 300 5chome without talking to anyone. Nothing we liked there.

Very packed lots more girls here. There was a few other foreigners. This place had new people arriving all the time. We started out just chilling having a drink. Behind us a group of really drunk j guys were hounding 3 girls to go to karaoke with them. They got pretty obnoxious with the girls so, I just turned around decided elegantly take the closest girl away by talking to her straight over the j-guys head. She came directly to our table and her girlfriends followed suit. The guys got worse trying to again to nampa the girls. one accidentally busted his glass spilling it all over us. I was cool but told him it's time to go. So then the girls made an amazing tactical move.

Tactical move: The Japanese girls say to the j-guys " let's go~~~ 行くぞ〜〜〜" They then took them up to the street then left them and came right back to our table.

5 mins later we were all in 2 taxis heading to my house for a home party.

3 girls my wingman and I, also we called a 3rd friend for the 3rd girl. Partied till 6am with some fun Japanese drinking\sex games (j-versions are to PG in my opinion) every time it was my turn I rocked the boat but they loved it.

I will defiantly go there again nampa is easy but i think it's best to have a wing man or make a j-guy friend while your there then start.

Language we play the hey let's speak English...but then switch to all Japanese 5 min later^^
