I guess it is supposed to be self- evident that becoming an AV actor or actress is harmful to oneself? If so, it is a telling presumption imo.

I know there are consequences but my life is in a "fuck it" mode right now and I think this would be a good outlet (along with karate) to get some stuff out of my system.

Did he say anything about timetable? Like, is it necessary to be on "always available" schedule. Since, you know, it's impossible to make a living that way if you aren't a top dog in industry, at the same time it's a serious business and if you get called to you have to come. The only scenarios it could work out are: you are a student or your spouse helps you and understands your strange hobbie(and both of them aren't true in your case as far as I see). Probably, having a freelance job is a good way too, but it implies having a permanent permission to live in Japan.
Also, how hard was it to get an interview? Are there any scout agencies for guys? There are a lot of ones for modeling business, but I have never heard about AV agencies for guys.
 
Valtiel, I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong but... It seems like a one off job, with the possibility of more work in the future. I guess men don't get paid much more more than travel expenses for porn.

If a gaijin was serious about entering the porn industry in Japan he needs to be proactive. Sending pics to the right people at AV companies with follow up calls in Japanese etc...

I did see an ad years ago in Metropolis advertising for gaijin actors in porn, but that was a rare case.

I know I'm late to this party, but I hope things work out for you. In the latest Okita Anri video (我慢できれば) she said that she wanted to fuck a bunch of foreigners in her next film. I'm actually waiting myself for the casting call for that video. Her body is so curvy and right for banging that I could do her until my dick fell off.

However, I still find it hard to believe that Japanese AV studios would want to higher foreign men who are not black. I have yet to see more than a couple vids with white men banging Japanese stars, and remain skeptical that things will ever change. What the industry needs is more women like Okita Anri pushing for more foreign men or some really handsome white guy to make a splash (Leonardo DiCaprio or Johnny Depp type guy who Japanese women just go crazy for).

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about dip-av.jp / pea-tv.jp (Peters). I'd been offered an interview with them for when I'm passing through later in the year and was trying to find out more about them (good or bad!) before I committed to anything.

This is a really good point. I always wondered why I always see black guys in Japanese porn...and like zero Caucasians. I have literally seen zero in mainstream porn. Of course, amateur videos of guys banging some J-girl/their gf/etc. but hell, I have made amateur videos with women. I applaud you johnny for taking such a groundbreaking step. You might change the future of the adult industry in Japan and you might even pave the way for the rest of us!

So what if he isn't? I don't remember anybody saying he must be White to make them happy. There are more colors than only Black and White. Lots of colors in the middle and mixes.

And to be a White racist in Japan is ass backwards anyways, better to take that to Germany than to be surrounded by Asians, as it might be more appreciated by a Neo-Nazi group.
