Well, possibly Hokkaido but more likely in Yokohama or Tokyo haha.

I am open to all areas if the job offer is decent actually.

As for this foreign teacher...although he was sent to another city, but I have heard that some foreigners have requested or offered to work at other locations when their bosses asked around to see which teachers would take up the offer haha.

This happened at an English school I used to work at. There was a teacher that just couldn't hack it in the countryside here in Shizuoka, so as soon as the boss offered some positions in Nagoya, he latched onto the opportunity right away haha.

Would it help if his wife partially moves in with him, ie gets some mail delivered there?

I guess regular visits and being a bit noisy in the bedroom would do the deal as well

Boys, boys. Even if the law talks about the failure to engage in the activities as a spouse it's still all about residency registration. So no amount of noise in the bedroom will change that .
