Now that Japan is a hip touristic destination I noticed the phenomenon of those leeches (distant relatives, friends you never heard of for years) suddenly remembering you and asking all sorts of travel tips , also whether you can lodge them etc.
Do you have same issue? How do you handle it?

Uh, yeah, I just give some general advice and that’s the end of it. The irony of it on my part is when college mates ask for hook ups with girls. I just play stupid... :)

I don’t allow people to stay with me and I may have one dinner with them but I’m not a god damned tour guide.

Requests for lodging get met with, "My whole place is about the size of your living room, but I can recommend a nice weekly apartment that's less expensive than hotels."

Requests for trip planning, I send them a link to the Lonely Planet guide on Amazon for their country.

Actual friends or family I'm on good terms with, them I'll take a few days off for and drive them up to the Fuji highlands and stuff, let them see rural Japan.

Probably not a good idea to refer to yourselves as 'pervs'. Adult stuff is normal and it's not 'pervy' unless you're doing some shady shit or doing something that really earns you that title.

If society wasn't so jock-strapped into having a hard-on for being so publicly anti-adult about everything, we'd be having a different discussion.

Well, in French Perv is not necessarily seen as negative (depends on the context of course) as it is in English , apparently.

Perv or Pervert in English, is more derogatory. But, it may depend on where you come from. It can be said in jest, just depends on the context of where and how it's used.

I agree, but I also turned the fact that society looks down upon adult stuff into a business opportunity. If being open minded about sexuality was the norm, us escorts would probably not make as much as we are doing now. Denying this fact would’ve been hypocritical, at least to me.

For me, a “perv” is not someone who is into adult stuff as behind closed doors most people are somewhat into it. A perv doesn’t care about my comfort, or if I am being exploited or demeaned in the transaction. He doesn’t care whether the transaction is fair for me or not. Much like the male equivalent of a scammer.

Funny how we can all interpret the same word differently, for me (and again with a French background) it’s more like sukebe in Japanese.

Oh interesting. We all speak a slightly different English, so sometimes misunderstandings can happen. (That’s the exact reason why I don’t take online personalities for granted) My English can easily slip back into the immigrant English dialect I used to speak in my community & with my (immigrant) parents when I was a child :)
 
Well, perv is short for pervert which aludes to perversion whichi is defined as "(of a thing) having been corrupted or distorted from its original course, meaning, or state".

And I would assert that what most of us are doing is little more than following our natural state. It's those who feel that sex has to be constrained to some unspeakable realm, outside even common conversation, those are the perverts.

I love the way how they naturally flirt, express themselves to people they like. But seems like when they don't like, they express that forever...
