Some of the comments on this thread are way too negative.
There are still a LOT of Japanese women who gravitate toward Western men, and it isn't about money most of the time. Many want to escape from the suffocating environment of Japanese society, and many are fed up with Japanese men. Once women hit 30 they quickly become unwanted among Japanese men, so foreigners are often their only choice other than being single forever.
On the other side of the equation, the supply of Western men in Japan is not much better than it was 20-30 years ago. The growth in foreign visitors has been driven by Chinese and other Asians, who are not a substitute for Americans or Europeans in most women's eyes. There are certainly more Westerners in Tokyo than there used to be, but most of them are older and married, and so many of the younger ones are slobs, or gay, or would rather play video games than deal with women. If you're a woman in Tokyo who wants to meet a decent-looking and moderately respectable white guy, your options are very limited.
The big catch with nihonjin chasing is that the vast majority are looking for LTR/marriage, so getting a one-night stand as a visitor is not easy unless you convincingly lie about your intentions (which I certainly don't recommend as a life strategy). And there's the language barrier, which is an issue, but everyone in Japan knows some English even if they suck at speaking it, and women who want a foreign dick inside them will find a way to communicate. Actually I think English ability in Japan is improving in recent years, as I seem to encounter more and more young people who are actually fluent.
