Sexually Transmitted Disease (std) Talk

Small update: Went to the urologist today. He did a standard urine test (white and red bloodcells, etc,..) but nothing showed up. So he confirmed my suspicion that it might be clamydia or gonorrhea (or he's clueless because he didn't even examine my dick). The test results will only come back in one week. Until then he gave me antibiotics.
I guess it all makes sense now. The symptoms all fall into the correct timeframe, combined with the slightly smelly pussy (which can have a lot of reasons) the girls 3 weeks ago had...
I just feel bad about the girl last week, maybe I infected her? She told me she had "some symptoms" since a few days but clamydia medicine didn't help and now she suspects yeast infection... What a clusterfuck. Having my first P4P and (probably) catching an infection, what are the odds...
My only regret is, that I'll leave Japan before I'm completly healed, so no more fun :(

But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? :D

New update:
Clamydia and Gonorrea test came back negative. The antibiotics made my symptoms worse but the urologist has no clue what's wrong with me. I convinced him it might by candidiasis since the first girl had a slight smell on her pussy and the second one told me her pussy startet smelling a few days after we had sex. Although my symptoms are not typical and only started 1 week after the second girl, I've read of similar cases like mine, so it's worth a try. Blood test for candida is also beeing made.

Any suggestions what else to do? :( My dick still hurts and my eyes started getting red and leak yellow liquid. I have an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow too because the urologist is clueless and doesn't even know the symtoms of different STDs

STDs are a bitch.

I test regularly because of my profession (tattooist) and even if I'm in a steady relationship it gives me a weird sense of peace, I've never had one.
I've known too many cases of people contracting one not even from sex workers, but long term partners.

As a precaution I'd think every reputable place should ask for test results (both sides) I know it's impractical and most likely won't happen, but for instance in many upscale swing scenes you're not invited without them, which I think it's smart. Especially since condoms aren't 100% effective.

Please be safe out there guys!

I'd still trust condoms over STD tests, diseases like HIV take time to show up on tests. And someone can do a test, then have unprotected sex with a stranger right after it.

Of course, should do condoms AND testing. I do every precaution i can against accidents: condoms, tests (swap, throatswap, bloodtest), birthcontrol pill, hygiene precautions...

Oh no I didn't explain myself properly. I meant testing on top of condoms. Since no method is 100% (unless abstinence of course)

I tested myself before starting a relationship with my husband, we both did. And I will continue to do so : )

So sorry to hear that. A similar thing happened to me long time ago, too, which got me depressed really though it turned out to be nothing by a thorough testing. If you are on Japanese health insurance, you should go to a doctor, whoever can speak English, just for consultation and talk. It won't cost much. If you are on travel insurance, you may be able to find a English-speaking doctor in the company's network. I think they cover consultation fees, too. Our bodies are at times reacting just mysteriously even when there's nothing physiologically wrong. Wish you get well soon.

I guess using condoms for all types of sex, hygiene precautions like Alice said and clean after is the best way to be close to safe. The chances you catch a bad bug doing this are very low. Also I guess avoid DATY unless you really know the provider/girl, but like it has been said before, nothing is 100% safe. I DATYed this girl I met in a party and caught a cold some days later, and my troll brain made me think I had HIV. Of course I didn't, the odds are like 1/10000, and that's if she had a sore or her period AND I had cuts in my mouth. My two cents is avoid DATY, go always covered and forget about most scary things, trust the science behind the numbers, but if you notice a symptom or just for peace of mind, test yourself every 3-6 months.

Even that is probably highly exaggerated number. There are doctors specialised in STDs who believe you cannot get HIV by DATY no matter what.

I prefer to believe them. :p

I'm on NHI and have talked to a general doctor (useless, couldn't do anything except refer me) an urologist and an eye doctor. I will probably let him refer me to a university hospital, hopefully they will do more tests there. The urologist didn't even examine my penis on the first visit and on the second he doesn't feel what I tell him is clearly there.
Eye doctor claims it's clamydia in my eyes just by examining them (didn't do a smear test) and gives me antibiotic eye cream. So what's wrong with my penis? Urin test is negative but still hurts. Re-testing for clamydia is pointless according to the urologist. This is terrible, if I at least would know what medicine can help me.

How did your case resolve if testing turned out nothing?

Get a retest done. It is very unlikey but could have been a false negative. Or you got tested during the incubation period in which case it did not show up.

I was sure it was not serious as I got the symptom after CFS/CBJ..it's just gone after a few days, but my memory serves wrong as it's really long time ago. What I can remember is that I was so depressed.

Probably it's nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), not caused by chlamydia - there are many other causes.

I already asked my urologist but he just laughed it off and also said because I already tried antibiotics, the test would not show up anything at this point. Chlamydia can be tested 1 week after exposure and I already had symptoms.

I know but convincing the doctor to test all that is difficult. I think the urologist I went to is just incompetent.

Will update again.

It might be useful to have a sticky post at the beginning of this thread that would indicate:
- common symptoms of principal STD's
- where to get tested in Tokyo (and may be in other main Japanese cities)
- Anonymous/not anonymous testing -> what info is asked from you
- Gaijin friendly (ie can you do it if you only speak english)
- cost (do they offer a TAG discount  ?)
- How it is done (blood test, saliva, ...)
- What STD are tested (do they offer all in one package or do you have to choose particular STD's)
- How long do you have to wait for the results
- Are they available online (if you are going back home far away it would be useful)
- If you are positive will the Center/Clinic prescribe you medicines or do you have to go to see a doctor outside
- How do you warn the provider/her agency/TAG members to prevent the spread of the infection

This would be highly useful for visitors and foreigners living in Japan
This was not ignored; but on a huge backlog of post reading I have. I've bookmarked this for follow-up later, it's a good idea. Thanks.

Update:
Blood test for candida (antibodies) is negative.
Urine culture for fungus and bacteria is negative.
Symptoms have improved with antimyotics meant to cure candida!
Had candida symptoms on my penis today (red dots and areas, white "stuff"). Urologist says it's not candida because the tests are negative and gives me an antibiotik(!!) cream altough bacteria culture is also negative and everything points to a fungal infection. Fuck this asshole.
He can't explain my symptoms and just sends me home.

I need a different doctor on monday. I'm so exhausted and tired. I went to the hospital/doctors 5 times in one week.

Looks like you're doing the right thing by getting a second opinión.

Sounds like your stressing yourself out over nothing. You have had the tests, and received the results. Game over.

If you really think your doctor is incompetent, or the tests were not properly administered or you tested too early.....go and get a new set of tests done in Japan or in your home country.

The stress you are putting yourself under is probably doing more damage than any UTI or STI. It sounds like your a cyberchondriac - telling the doctors what is wrong with you. Better to just focus on the relevant facts and symptoms and let the professionals sort out the problem. Tokyo probably has the biggest - deepest and widest - sex industry in the universe. The local authorities offer free anonymous sti tests - because STIs are prevalent. I am pretty sure if you have an STI problem, Tokyo is a good place as any to get diagnosed, tested and treated.

I have symptoms but all tests are negative. Of course this stresses me even more! I don't know what's wrong, how to fix it or who can help me. I receive medicine that doesn't help or makes it worse. I will leave japan in ~10 days and I can't be sick until then, I got things to do.

How about a whole different approach, maybe an allergic reaction to something? A bug bite? Try homemade remedies, if they help, good, if not you didn't really lose anything. (You need a Doctor House on your case.)

Ah ah, thought about the same thing. My favorite American serie ever! House would have probably insulted the OP or offended in another way, not sure that would help a lot! You may be right it could be completely unrelated to sex , after all it's a piece of flesh and skin like others. Had stuff happening on my dick which were definitely not STDs (I was a virgin , to start with)

I find doctors here a joke... mostly pill pushers that prescribe pills that are dosed too low. That damn "sensei... sensei..." god aurora is bullshit.

When you go to a second or third doctor... do NOT tell them you have already visited other doctors! If you tell them... you are not going to get the help you are needing. When I've needed antibiotics, but the idiots only prescribe 50mg x 10 pills for 3 days... and, tell me this works for a Japanese person. I'm not Japanese! I've visited two... three... four doctors... to get a stock pile of antibiotics and properly dose myself.

In my opinion Tokyo has some of the best doctors in the world. Unfortunately they do have a good mediocre ones too.

So the trick is to find the good ones and only use them. With the insurance the good ones cost the same than the bad ones anyway so like finding a good escort you are required to do your groundwork.
