not a single other country on earth has ever mustered the balls to challenge us on it. It's like if I claimed to have the biggest dick in all of Kansai. If no other guy is willing to drop his trousers and call my bullshit, it's not my fault.

Just cos nobody challenges you on something doesnt mean they believe or accept it. Your analogy works very well. People are just kind of second hand embarrassed at this stage and ignore.

To his credit, Prince Harry did deploy to Afghanistan. There was a media blackout at the time, but it didn’t last. So, he was pulled out. If the insurgents had killed him or kidnapped him, it would have been a propaganda coup. The British military just couldn’t risk that.

I obtained my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine earlier today.
After my Pfizer Dose One, I experienced pain at the injection site for about 8 hours; days two & three afterward, mild fatigue.

After my Pfizer Dose Two, yesterday, I experienced pain at the injection site for about 8 hours. So far, no signs of fatigue. One of my friends was sick as a dog for 36 hours after Moderna Dose Two.

By comparison, my Shingles Vaccine Doses One & Two hurt like a MFer. My flu shot last September triggered significant fatigue.

So far, so good. Fingers crossed.

Two weeks from now, I will able to go out into public again.

I hit the 2 week mark last Saturday (moderna) with no issues other than sore arm as described. Still wear a mask....

From what I can tell, it seems like Moderna tends to cause the worst reactions in those prone to reactions, particularly after the second dose. Three of my cousins in the medical field got Moderna and shot #2 royally fucked them up. One of my cousins was seriously contemplating going to the emergency room about twelve hours after his injection as he was sure he caught actual COVID but decided to (try to) sleep on it overnight and in the morning was fine. I've got Pfizer #2 coming up and I suspect it's going to be an interesting experience. The only upside it my shot is scheduled for a Wednesday, so I'm taking Thursday and Friday off "for good measure," which means I'll probably be on the roof of my condo with a box of cheap Chardonnay and a cigar, shivering and shaking in my tracksuit.

But I'm with you, I can't fucking wait to get out again. April 21 is Freedom Day for me. Still probably won't go out much, but it'll do wonders for my 'rona OCD. I've noticed I've been drinking less since shot #1, but a decade after this plague is over I'll still go out of my way to shit on tourists.

That's because you frogs are a heartless breed, indeed.

But seriously, as much as I try to be an asshole I actually felt sorry for the guy. It's not even a joke any longer. He (or his handlers) have flat-out refused to let him do an actual live Q&A press conference for 57 days now, the longest of any new president in modern history. Two weeks ago they let him speak unscripted at a WH event and he couldn't remember the name or title of his new Defense Secretary or the name of the Pentagon, instead referring to him as "the sec...the, the, uhhhh, uh the former general? I keep calling him general, but, uhhhh, my, my, uhhhh...the guy who runs that outfit, uh, over there."

The very chilling reality is that Kamala Harris could be president by 2022.

hey even Trevor Noah made fun of it (especially the bogus « its the wind » excuse), at around 3’00’´ I found it was hilarious by the way. Would have been better with a toilet paper stuck on his shoe though. Guys, I truely think you should add a « can climb stairs » requirement for presidential candidates. Like we have « has mistresses or weird MILF fetishes » for our own presidents.

Two mass shootings in one week in the states.

Frankly, I’m glad to be living in Japan.

where are the « good guys with a gun » to stop those bad guys with a gun? Each time, same story

Funny you should ask. A couple recent examples. The mass media has tried its hardest to stay absolutely silent on this, but occasionally, outlets are forced to recognize what happened. If you're so inclined, a look into the FBI's statistics involving the annual number legal, justified self-defense shootings in America involving legally-owned firearms by law-abiding citizens may surprise you. Obviously, that doesn't fit the leftwing agenda so it's never, ever reported on the evening news.

Also, FYI, Boulder County is the bluest, most liberal county in the entire state of Colorado and considered a pretentious, snobby, wannabe-hippy shithole by almost everyone outside the town limits. It's also a mecca for transplant Californians who want to bring their Bay Area Bullshit with them to a clean, free state, not unlike Sedona, AZ. Not surprisingly, gun ownership and legal concealed carry rates are exponentially lower there compared to other counties in the state. I should know, I lived down the road for a number of years and I shopped at King Soopers every week.

Now, let Ahmed Al-Goathumper try pulling that bullshit in Weld, El Paso or Pueblo Counties, and he'll find himself in an interesting predicament. Places where you still see shotguns in shotgun racks on the windows of trucks in the high school parking lot, and the football coach is also the skeet-shooting coach and hunter safety coach and every boy (and most girls) by the age of 5 knows the fundamental rules of gun safety. They play like Texas in those counties, and he would've had far worse than a fucking leg-wound when they rolled his carcass out of the market.

I wonder how the shooter in Atlanta could avoid the same fate

He targeted places where the patrons were largely disrobed (and therefore away from any firearms in their possession) and the staff were largely recent Asian immigrants who were not yet able to legally possess firearms.

He was a regular himself, and he knew they were unarmed and vulnerable.

I really hope he's in general population right now.

scumbags, all of them. And another one just in the news now, there was a kid among the victims
Yep. Living in Japan has its perks...

Funny, yet sad video... A guy thought it would be a bright idea to rob a gun store in Texas (I think). Well, the two staff behind the counter, and a customer all proceeded to pull fire arms and educate this guy brandishing a firearm in their faces of how badly he dun fucked up. One of the safest place for me to eat my breakfast is a diner in Texas, where everyone there eating their Denver omlette are carrying.

People say we should trust the police to protect us, that we don't need guns for that. Well, that's all well and good, here in California, the average response time for the police to show up is around 25 minutes. That should be enough time for the guy and his friend holding me at gun point to both have their way with my wife before the police show up, if they even show up at all. I have a far better chance of getting to my firearms, and at minimum, making enough noise for both my neighbors who have firearms to hear and join the party, or scare the shit out of the home invaders, or let them feel the consequences of endangering my family and me.

My point is, if the government wants to take away my means of protecting myself and my loved ones, then they assume that responsibility themselves. They've demonstrated they are incapable of doing so, so they can fuck off. Besides, restricting gun ownership is pretty much impossible in today's technological world. For less than $1k in equipment and tooling that I can order off of Amazon, I can make literally any firearm I want in a couple weekends, and it'd cost me around $20-50 in materials. Prohibition has never worked in America. Ban alcohol, you create the mafia and empower them. Ban drugs, and you create the cartels. Ban prostitution, and you create human trafficking rings. Ban abortion, you get back alley, unsafe abortions. Ban firearms, and you have people in their rooms making guns that will probably cause more personal injury from accidents, while making it so criminals can print weapons on demand.

That said, I'm with Frenchy, I miss Japan sometimes. I was just reading stuff on Reddit, about how women need to do their Due Diligence on men before they go on dates; google them to make sure no convictions, or pending charges, or any of that. Also, many guys google the girls tand find out she's on Porn Hub or Onlyfans, or they're a known honeypotter, etc. Part of me understands, but the other part of me is like "Why did I never have to do this stuff when I was living in Japan? Is America really that fucked up?" Or when I'm P4P'ing, I always have to do a few laps to make sure it's not a police sting, or that some dude isn't gonna rob me when I head into the room, or any other millions of other things. *sigh*

yep, looks like the US is gradually becoming a paranoia country ... everybody afraid of everybody , and politically each side branding the other as crazy retards (either libtard/commie or trumptard/nazi...) , plus all the race-based fears and biases...
I remember even back in 92 I was a young intern in a NY bank and one weekend I went to Harlem, just wanted to visit the place, a soul food restaurant, a jazz club... had a good time actually. And when I told this back to my American colleagues the next monday they reacted as if I went to a war zone or third world country...
Now it’s going to a supermarket in damn Boulder which is actually dangerous

Dude, did you steal my senior year thesis??? I'm not even joking.

An interesting side note, for all the bleating by the dickless "only cops should have guns!" crowd, most Americans are unaware that according to the actual letter of the law of our land, police DO NOT have a constitutional duty to protect you from harm. And that's according to a decision by SCOTUS in 2005. There is no federal, state, city or municipal mandate that requires police to save your life when your life is threatened. And as you very correctly alluded to, the average response time for police averages 15-45 minutes depending on your location stateside, and it's actually much longer in rural counties.

So the cops generally take a half hour to arrive and then don't actually have an obligation to help me when they finally get here? Yeah, no thank you.

I had a sign almost exactly like on my lawn when I lived in a free state. And I meant it.

A guy thought it would be a bright idea to rob a gun store in Texas (I think).

That just shows you the average intelligence of a robber. Back in the old country one guy in my practical shooting team owned a gun shop. Some crackhead had the bright idea to rob the shop and came in equipped with a .22 revolver.

He pointed that to the owner and demanded him to hand over the cash. Mind you we were already all using pretty much only plastic at this time so there was like 200 dollars worth of money there. The owner goes "you are holding a single action .22 short Rohm revolver which means I can hit you with my 40 caliber Glock before you get that shot away. And even if I miss there are two customer behind you with their pistols drawn already."

The guy was wise enough to give up at this point and tried to run. Just to realise the door was locked already. :p

Reminds me of my old gun range from 20 years ago, back when I still lived in a free state. It was basically a clubhouse/range/gunshop tucked away in a nice, quiet, middle-upper class neighborhood. You pull into the parking lot and every car there has an NRA, BUSH-CHENEY or some sort of military/veteran sticker on the bumper. You walk inside and it's like Cheers for gun nuts. They say an armed society is a polite society. The range and shop is full of decent, respectable, normal folks and since it was a shall-issue state (legal licensed concealed carry), you knew everyone in there is armed. Gun nuts can spot other gun nuts, from the way you wear your shirt/jacket, to the jeans, to just the way you carry yourself or just look like a self-reliant individual and not some whining snowflake. Every time you pass another member, you just kinda nod, and he/she nods back, and you know you're in like company. When it's time to hit the range, members remove their jackets or unbutton their shirts, revealing their concealed rigs and then everyone examines/admires the other guy/girl's holster and equipment, asks a few questions, trades advice and then they line up to practice 3-5-7 yard "Failure To Stop" drills, meaning two-to-the-chest, one-to-the-face, repeat, repeat, repeat. Wrap up, clean up the rigs and reload/reholster then it's back to the showroom to hang out with the staff and other members and talk about microbrews, new restaurants and obviously what a pussy Al Gore is. I'd rather deploy to Afghanistan with an airgun and pocket knife than try to rob that place. I do believe that was the safest place on earth.
